Fragile: A Poem for Tender Hearts and Sensitive Souls

Deep processing is a hallmark trait for highly sensitive people (HSPs). This ability to think and feel so deeply can make us more susceptible to pain and heartache. HSPs often say that people don’t understand the depth of their emotions. We go through life feeling misunderstood, like nobody gets us.

I stumbled upon this poem, FRAGILE, written by Rudy Francisco. The moment I read this breathtakingly beautiful poem, I thought it captured the essence of an HSPs pain so beautifully. I hope you find as much comfort and tenderness in it as I do.

FRAGILE

I know the heart

can be a fragile and

dangerous thing.

When it breaks,

the ends are often jagged

and will cut the hands of people

who are just trying to help you

clean up the mess.

But I also know that

pain is nomadic. It

doesn’t like to stay in

one place for too long.

Healing is a slow crawl,

but it will find you

right where you are.
